Sat 1 & Sun 2 June 2024, Brockwell Park, London

The berocca is fizzing in our glass, our ears are still ringing, there’s glitter in every crevice and our diet has consisted of Malibu, beige food and second-hand Grape vape smoke for three days… It can only mean one thing – the Big Weekender comedown has begun.

We wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who made it a weekend to remember [and forget…]. It was incredible to see so many Hoopla megafans having the time of their lives over the weekend, and seeing you all losing your minds to our amazing performers and artists bought a tear to our eye. Seriously. You’re all the best.

So, if you didn’t manage to get down to Bognor, here’s your Butlin’s best bits….

MELANIE C!!

We had a bloody Spice Girl kicking off our opening night – and kick it off she did. The crowd went absolutely wild for Melanie C, who gave us a set like no other full of her solo bangers including I Turn To You, Blame It on Me and Never Be The Same Again. And, of course, we all enjoyed a Hoopla singalong to 2 Become 1 and Who Do You Think You Are. Melanie – we adore you.

TOYS FANCY DRESS

OK so when we set you a theme, you really take it seriously, and for that we respect you all the more. This year, our infamous Fancy Dress Parade was hosted by our favourite laydeh behind the till Charity Shop Sue, and the theme was TOYS. The Saturday night was taken over by your incredible outfits – we saw Care Bears, Top Trumps, Furbies, and…of course… Rampant Rabbits. Our fave dress up parade yet!

MICHELLE MCMANUS!!

We have a tendency of creating Momentshere at Mighty Hoopla, and one of the undisputed moments of the weekend was the great return of original pop idol Michelle McManus. Michelle stormed the stage with a set of iconic hits [Born This Way?? On The Radio?? She understood the assignment], but there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when she belted out ‘All This Time’, alongside our fab dancers from The Grand. …AND EVERYTHING BLOODY ELSE.

Aside from our musical greatness, we were blessed to have a full schedule of incredible activities and performances. There were pool parties DJed by Sink the Pink, there were go karts, arcade games, bowling, performances from Queerbruk, The Cocoa Butter Club, Queer House Party… Everyone’s schedule was FULL, and you best believe there’s never a dull moment here at Mighty Hoopla Big Weekender.

Because we bloody love our Butlin’s Weekenders so much, we’ve gone on sale NOW with 2024 tickets – and all you need to secure your room is a £50 deposit, with the rest of the balance not due until the 30th September.

Make sure you keep up to date with all our Big Weekender updates over on our Mighty Hoopla Big Weekender Instagram page!

See you next year Butlin’s x
